与其它主机、域名服务商不同， godaddy 经常会有这类活动，想算是让利于消费者吧！难怪生意这么好了。Godaddy 也算是为数不多的商品、服务都好的主机服务商之一。个人觉得，让利于消费者这一点，值得国内很多公司学习。人嘛，都喜欢占点小便宜，你给他点好处，他会下次还来你这里，你便得到了一个长期的客户。相反，你如果不但不给便宜让消费者占，甚至还与消费者争利，你又如何留得住他们呢？

最后提醒大家注意，Godaddy 的优惠码是有时效的，大家可以经常到小站来看看，我会及时更新的。

估计没几个读过吧！本来英文就不好，又那么老长，谁会去认真读它呢？所以，虽然购买的时候会出现那些规则，可是我们大多会直接 accept 。

可是，这些规则真的很重要，不认真阅读的话，说不定什么时候它就会让你大吃一惊。

比如 hostgator 主机，禁止在他们的空间上放置下列站点：

a) Use 25% or more of system resources for longer then 90 seconds. There are numerous activities that could cause such problems; these include: CGI scripts, FTP, PHP, HTTP, etc.
b) Run stand-alone, unattended server-side processes at any point in time on the server. This includes any and all daemons, such as IRCD.
c) Run any type of web spider or indexer (including Google Cash / AdSpy) on shared servers.
d) Run any software that interfaces with an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) network.
e) Run any bit torrent application, tracker, or client. You may link to legal torrents off-site, but may not host or store them on our shared servers.
f) Participate in any file-sharing/peer-to-peer activities
g) Run any gaming servers such as counter-strike, half-life, battlefield1942, etc
h) Run cron entries with intervals of less than 15 minutes
INODES
The use of more than 50,000 inodes on any shared account may potentially result in suspension. Accounts found to be exceeding the 50,000 inode limit will automatically be removed from our backup system to avoid overusage. Every file (a webpage, image file, email, etc) on your account uses up 1 inode.

不仔细看一下的话，说不定你就会违反了。不过还好，Hostgator 主机对客户还是比较人性化的，它会发信给你让你改正。有些主机就不一定了，会直接停了你的站。

当年我购买 go-mama-hosting 的主机的时候就吃过一次亏，白白被他们多扣了一个月的使用费。没办法，人家写的清清楚楚，

怪只怪当时我没仔细看！

不知何故，Godaddy 虚拟主机的 IP 总是会莫名被封，所以购买独立 IP 好像成了不二选择。但其实，我们很多时候不需要这么做，白白花了冤枉钱。

之所以这么说，是因为我们很多时候建站本就不是面向国内的，本来想屏蔽国内IP还要动手动脑呢，现在好了，全齐了，政府帮我们做到了，不是更好吗？省了我们多少精力！

我有一个站，us-zipcode.com ，移到 godaddy 主机后不久，该IP被封，还好全部文件已上传完毕。本来想买独立 IP 的，可是没想到第二天发现 adsense 的点击收大增，便暂没有购买。结果一个月下来，收入翻了一番。

可见，对 adsense 而言，流量的来源地和点击价格还是有一定关系的。

所以说，如果你的站主要是面向国外的话，就没必要购买独立IP了。更何况，你买的独立 IP 也未必不会被封。要知道，政府封IP可不都是一个一个封的，很多时候他会封IP段。

域名转移其实就是指把你的域名从你的域名服务商那里转到另一个域名服务商那里。比如，你的域名原先是在购买　hostmonster 的主机时免费赠送的，现在你不想继续使用他们的主机了，但还想要那个域名，那么，你除了可以选择继续由 hostmonster 提供的域名解析服务外，还可以选择把它移到另外的域名注册商那里。

在国内的域名注册商那里，想转走域名要费很多周折，但在国外的域名服务商那里注册的域名就不同了，你可以随意转移到任何域名服务商那里。比如，你可以把从enom注册的域名转到 godaddy.com 。转移域名的过程很简单。

首先，你要在你原来的域名注册商那里把你的域名解除锁定 ( unlock )，如果本来就没锁定的话，这一步可以省略。

第二步，检查一下你的域名注册信息（你所填写的个人信息），邮件地址是不是正确？因为你提交转移申请后，他们会发封信给你，而邮件地址就是你在域名注册信息中所留下的那个。（这里还有一点要注意的就是你的域名信息是不是处于被保护( Domain Privacy ) 状态，在这种状态下是不可能转移成功的，因为那里没有你的邮箱地址。）

第三步，在你现在的域名服务商里找到 ” authorization codes “。（有些服务商需要你请求才会发给你。比如 mydomain 中要先点击　Request Transfer Authorization Codes　申请。）

第四步，你要到域名转入商那里提交申请。比如，你想把域名转到 godaddy.com ，那么你就得先到 godaddy.com 去申请。点击 domain 下拉菜单中的 transfer domain to go daddy，” Transfer ” 是关键字，” transfer domain ” 就是域名转移之意。你如果要转入其它域名服务商那里，也要找这个单词。之后填入你要转移的域名，提交后再填写你的一些个人信息（如果你已经注册过了的话就更简单了，登陆后再做这些，就不需要再填这些信息了）即可。这时它们会发一封信到你的邮箱中（你域名注册信息中的邮箱）。

第五步，到邮箱中点击信件中的确认链接，然后输入你的 ” authorization codes “，确认即可。

一般5－7天就会成功了。

Godaddy 虚拟主机与其他多数后台使用CP面板的空间不同，它的空间并不是购买后直接开通的。你必须建立帐户后才可以正常使用。

1.登陆账户
2.在左边的My Products选项下选择Hosting.

前天收到host gator发来的一封信，大意是告诉我他们空间的限制条件：

To maintain the highest level of performance on our shared servers we have a maximum inode (file) limit of 50,000 inodes (files) per account. The size of the file does not matter, only the number of files. For example, a DVD image (say, 4.5gb) only counts as one inode, or file. Our limit, as outlined in our terms of service, is 50,000 files per account. We generally don’t hold people strictly to this limit, but at the same time we expect our users to respect the limits of the system. When an account has hundreds of thousands of files, it significantly degrades overall disk performance, as each file on the disk must be tracked/indexed. Read more…

以前是在Hostmonster的空间上的，开始还可以，可是随着时间的推移，速度越来越慢，还经常因为CPU使用超限被强制限制访问一段时间，简直让人受不了！因此决定把它搬到HOSTGATOR的主机上！

之所以选择HOSTGATOR是因为我有另一个站在这个主机上，速度一直不错，而且很少有DOWN机的现象出现！而且，这个站可以一键安装wordpress（可惜是英文的，不是中文的，中文的要另外安装才行）。

安装的过程可以说一波三折——问题不是出在主机上，而是出在程序上。安装完成后导入数据时总是显示乱码，整页的全是问号！最后发现问题出在wp-config.php这个文件上。我是从wordpress.org.cn上下的中文版，以前用的还行，这次的2.6版出了问题。它的wp-config.sample.php中确定页面编码的这个语句：

define(’DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8′);

看到错误了没？utf8，没错，就是它，中间应该有个横线的，是这个样子：utf-8

改了之后，一路绿灯！唉，折腾了一下午，好在终于搞好了！

买空间一定要慎重，换空间真的很麻烦，呵呵，hostgator的主机，不错！以后就用它了！

你知道什么是独立IP吗？

一般虚拟空间都是共享一个IP地址，通过域名来将其指向不同内容的。也就是说，同一个IP的址会有许多网站。但是有些主机商提供的虚拟空间，往往也会提供一些独立IP，这样你一个域名就可以对应一个IP。

拥有独立IP地址的最大好处，就是不怕IP屏蔽了。对于共享虚拟主机来说，如果你和其它用户共享一个IP地址，一旦他上传一些违反我国法规的东西而遭到GFW的封杀，那么你的虚拟空间也就跟着倒霉了。使用独立IP就可以避免这个问题–除非GFW痛下杀手，把这家服务商的所有IP都封杀了。所以，独立IP也是多多益善的。不过这个东西一般都需要单独购买，一般来说一个独立IP要2美元/月，不过如果IX　Webhosting 这个主机服务商提供最少1个独立IP地址，最多可达到16个独立IP，而且，这些都是免费的，不需要你另外付钱，相对来说，还是很不错的。
